“Make Beverly Count” Campaign Launched in Anticipation of 2020 Federal Census

The Beverly Human Rights Committee is taking the lead in Beverly to encourage full participation by city residents in the forthcoming 2020 federal census through a Complete Count Campaign entitled “Make Beverly Count”.

Two informational meetings have been scheduled for community leaders and any interested Beverly residents on Thursday, January 16 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Beverly Senior Center, 90 Colon Street and Thursday, January 23 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Beverly Public Library, 32 Essex Street.

On April 1, 2020 every household in Beverly will receive correspondence requesting participation in the 2020 federal census taking.  This constitutionally mandated process is of vital importance to Beverly.  A complete and accurate census is valuable for many reasons including determining fair election districts, ensuring eligibility for full distribution of federal resources for schools and community purposes, accurate demographic data for business and health planning, and many other uses.

Anne Williams, a specialist employed by the Census Bureau to work with communities such as Beverly, will review the census taking process and timeline.
